Pluto TV to arrive in Canada on December 1
Paramount Global's Pluto TV has officially set its launch date in Canada for December 1, Pluto TV and Corus announced this week. Corus will act as the ad sales representative for the free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service, as previously announced.
The launch is slated for this fall, delivering more than 100 curated channels and 20,000 hours of content. Corus is going to act as the ad sales representative for Pluto and providing multiple Canadian channels to the service. Pluto TV will also off a lineup of Corus Original library series across a variety of genres.
“The agreement further expands the volume of digital video inventory Corus has to offer, in a premium, brand-safe environment allowing our clients to achieve the impact of TV with the measurement and targetability of digital and connect with audiences wherever they are streaming,” said Greg McLelland, EVP and chief revenue officer for Corus Entertainment, in a statement.
For the launch in Sweden, Denmark and Norway, Pluto TV combined with a local ad-supported video on-demand (AVOD) service Viafree – a first for the service in terms of integrating with a local AVOD. For that effort, once the combined product launches, the standalone Viafree service will be phased out.Source: fiercevideo.com/video/pluto-tv-partners-corus-launch-canada
